Temperance

Archangel Michael stands perfectly balanced with one foot on water, symbolizing the unconscious mind, and one foot on land, symbolizing the conscious mind. He balances water (emotion) between two cups. His crown of the sun represents his connection to the higher power. He is at one with all there is. Leading out from the pool upon which he is balanced is a small pathway. It leads off into the distance where the sun radiates in the shape of a crown. This represents the Crown of Kether in the Kaballah, the godhead, the achievement of whatever the particular journey is about. He also has on his chest a triangle in a square. The square he earned at the No. 7 card, the Chariot. Now he has earned the triangle to go inside the square. This triangle represents that he understands spiritual law, which he is able to apply to his life. As this is No. 14 of the journey of 22 steps, it is over halfway. Therefore, looking closely at the pathway it appears to be broken in several places, because there is still more to learn and to come to understand in the journey to the goal. Archangel Michael reminds us to listen carefully to our inner selves - the iris blooming behind him. By this time we know our own answers, the biggest key of all is "do we listen, do we balance ourselves and consistently work towards the goal in which we are endeavoring to create?" Balance is the key to the symbol. Use your knowing in a balanced way and keep on striving gently and easily towards your goal.
