The Tower, #16
The Tower
XVI

Lighting strikes the top of the tower, displacing the dome. This dome represents all that one has worked for or created. Fire breaks out from the top and the three windows that are visible. Two people fall from this tower. The person on the right of the symbol is falling backwards with his crown on his head. He is unable to see where he is going, and as the crown is still on his head, it is assumed he is holding onto the old ways. The person on the left of the symbol is falling face forward without a crown. Between his arms is one 'yod' of light. This can be seen as The Magican (#1) which states "all things are possible." Coming up beside his body are eleven more yods of light, representing Justice; the law of Karma is in place. The 12 yods of light can be related to the Hanged Man, the law of acceptance, advising that unless you accept what has happened you will not be able to proceed further. Above the man on the right are 10 yods of light, relating to the Wheel of Fortune, the law of action. The man on the left, can begin by accepting and doing what is necessary to rebuild what has been taken away. Step by step he can climb the 22 steps of the Higher Arcana and achieve again.
